NUCLEAR SUBMARINE CLASH; WHAT IS THE MESSAGE? B.E. AJIBOLA

What are the signals being sent by these occurrences when instruments of war of two powerful nations that are not at war with one another clash in the waters and surveillance instruments of another two powerful nations clash in space for the first time in the history of the struggle to dominate the outer space. We should ask ourselves the question; if these incidents are just mere accident or are they premeditated? The HMS Vanguard and French submarine Le Triumphant despite the fact that they are both equipped with sonar to detect other vessels did not detect each other in the Atlantic waters where they clashed. If this is carelessness please check it. Also the clash of Russian satellite and that of the United States of America in space need be examined. The space is wide enough to accommodate as many satellite as could be launched into it, more control and specifications are only needed. The earth has enough risks threatening it's continuous peaceful existence. Let everyone of us beware. Nuclear war is never won neither would we benefit from constant loss of effective control over our technical devices. Read the News report below.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The crash between HMS Vanguard and French submarine Le Triumphant, which was also carrying nuclear warheads, is believed to have occurred on February 3 or 4.
Despite being equipped with sonar to detect other vessels, neither submarine apparently realised the other was in the same part of the ocean.
A senior Navy source told a newspaper the potential consequences of such a collision were "unthinkable".
He said: "It's very unlikely there would have been a nuclear explosion. But a radioactive leak was a possibility. Worse, we could have the crew and warheads. That would have been a national disaster."
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) refused to confirm the incident had taken place, saying it was against its policy to comment on submarine operations.
However, a spokesman insisted nuclear security had not been breached.
He said: "We can confirm that the UK's deterrent capability has remained unaffected at all times and there has been no compromise to nuclear safety."
Inquiries are under way on both sides of the Channel.

YOU CAN'T DENY THE FACTS OF HISTORY: Rev. Babatunde Ezekiel Ajibola

POPE BENEDICTS XVI

Facts of history can not be denied. Each time such an attempt to deny the facts of history is made, prejudice is always in display and it is often obvious that mischief is also is the making. Holocaust is an historic fact and it is one of the events of history that makes humanity highly degraded and worthless. We can correct this by making sure all human race no matter what religion, colour and ideological affiliation are treated equally in all matters that need be tackled to protect human dignity. There are facts of history that we can not deny because they shine above like the sunshine that the entire location of the earth feel their impact. We can not deny that the first and the second world war was fought and that millions died. We can not deny the fact that man landed on the moon. We can not deny that millions of African descent were taken as slaves and exported to the new found world of america and the islands. We can not deny the Civil Right movement in the U.S.A that inspired the 'I have a dream speech' of Martin Luther King jr. We cannot also deny the Soweto massacre by the tyranous apartheid regime of South Africa and the imprisonment of Mandela. Most importantly we can not deny the Cruxifixion of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who according to prophecy died and rose from death the third day thereby completing the work of salvation for mankind and that we celebrate Christmas to mark the birth of the Messiah. As I can not deny that I exist as I am writing this article right now, in like manner, I can not deny the existence of God who is the author of all things. What do you know do not happen that history is trying to impose on human knowledge. Make it known but definitely not one of the above. The outrage over Bishop Richard Williamson's claim that thhe holocaust never took place should be put to rest. For whatever reason the bishop denied the holocaust, it must be personal and that is that. Will the Jews also continue to deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ and that He is the Messiah that is to come? Let them think about it.

WILDERS REFUSED ENTRY

Geert Wilders had been due to show his 17-minute film Fitna, which calls the Koran a "fascist book", in the House of Lords.

But he received a letter from the Home Office on Tuesday saying he would not be allowed to come to Britain because his opinions "would threaten community security and therefore public security".

Mr Wilders, leader of Holland's Freedom Party, condemned the Government as "weak and cowardly" and made the trip anyway - but was stopped by immigration officials at Heathrow's Terminal 1.

His film sparked violent protests last year for linking verses in the Muslim holy book with footage of terrorist attacks, including the July 7 London bombings.

He is facing prosecution in Holland for inciting hatred and discriminating against Muslims and their religion after calling for the Koran to be banned.

But the Netherlands has pressed for a reversal of Britain's decision to ban Mr Wilders.

Holland's foreign minister Maxime Verhagen said: "It is highly regrettable that a Dutch MP should be denied entry to another EU country."

Mr Wilders said: "I was very surprised and very saddened that the freedom of speech that I believe was a very strong point in UK society is being harassed today."

UK Independence Party peer Lord Pearson, who invited Mr Wilders to Britain, said the screening of the film would go ahead today "with or without Mr Wilders".

He said he did not agree with all Mr Wilders' views but strongly defended his right to express them.

The Home Office said: "The Government opposes extremism in all its forms.

"It will stop those who want to spread extremism, hatred and violent messages in our communities from coming to our country, and that was the driving force behind tighter rules on exclusions for unacceptable behaviour that the Home Secretary announced in October last year."

A Muslim Council of Britain spokesman said: "Mr Wilders' xenophobic views have been identified as repugnant by a Dutch court, and is now confirmed by his official exclusion from the United Kingdom."

NIGERIA ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN

THE Director General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Professor Ndi-Okereke Onyiuke revealed on Monday that Nigeria lost N812 billion to capital flight in the last two years.

Professor Onyiuke made the revelation even as the Minister of Finance, Mansur Muktar and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Soludo assured Nigerians that even if the international crude oil price crashed to $30 per barrel, Nigeria’s 2009 budget would not be affected.

But while the Minister of Finance disclosed that the N70 billion bailout for the textile industry would be released in the next one month, they both ruled out any bailout for banks in the face of the global economic crisis, saying that Nigerian banks were very healthy and therefore did not need to be rescued.

They spoke at a meeting with the Joint Senate Committees on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions and Capital Market and Finance.

The committees had invited the Ministers of Finance, and of National Planning, the CBN governor, Chief Economic Adviser to the President, Director General Securities and Exchange Commission, Director General, Nigerian Stock Exchange and the President, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, to an interactive session on the effect of the global economic crisis on the country and pragmatic solutions.

Professor Onyiuke said: “In 2007, we had N256 billion, equivalent of dollars. That was what was captured. Remember that a lot of Nigerians send in money through Western Union to relations, we do not capture that statistics, because we only take money wired through the banks, because Nigeria wants to avoid money laundering.

“We advise Nigerians and our investors to send money through wired transfer. We only have that captured by Nigerian banks, those are the statistics we have. We did not capture that sent through relations’ addresses. There was N256 billion that went out.

But in 2008, we now have N556 billion that went out as the governor of the Central Bank said. “When some of the investors had problems in their home countries, when the global phenomenon started, as they were losing money, they had to now come and sell such shares in our country and go back and shore up their economies at home. Our market is transparent; all the investors published their transactions every day. What happened was that it was the panicking that came through the foreign investors and affected Nigerians who are watching CNN all the time.”

The benchmark for the 2009 Budget is predicated on $45 per barrel but even with the current crash in the price of crude oil to below $40, both the finance minister and the CBN governor still assured Nigerians that if the crude price fell to $30, it would not hamper the operation and performance of the 2009 budget.

The Senators, led by the chairman of the committees, Senator Nkechi Nwogu, had asked from the economic experts how the government intended to restore confidence in the economy in the face of the global economic crunch and how to protect the financial institutions.

Acording to the finance minister, who was represented by the Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Remi Babalola: “There is no doubt that we are going to have a significant global slowdown in the economy all over the world. When the budget was was being put together, the lowest crude price was $85 and people thought we were ultra-conservative by using $45 but by January when the price came down to $40 everybody said that we should have used $30.

“All the countries that we actually looked at, like Russia, Indonessia, actually used far higher rates than Nigeria used for its budget in 2009. The most conservative estimate for crude price for 2009 is $59.

“The truth is that with the way the budget is structured, we have said so many times that even if the crude price comes down to $30 per barrel, ordinarily, the way we have worked it out, it should not affect budget implementation, it should not affect releases for budget.

“As far as we know, at this point in terms of exchange rate, in terms of interest rate, in terms of inflation rate, in terms of crude price, there are significant challenges, there are downside risks to the economy, but honestly speaking, for an economy that is still growing, it is not the way that it is being put to the market as if everything is down.”

On the efforts being made, he said a lot of things were being done, adding, “We have said it so many times. If we find out that there is a problem with the financial system we will work out modalities by which we certainly ensure that the financial system, that is the pivot of the entire economy, will not be affected, will still remain resilient and stable and we will do whatever we can to assist the financial system.

“I love it when they talk about the textile sector, that is the kind of bailout, intervention we are looking at. In the last two weeks we have had a lot of meetings with the ministry of commerce, we have set up a technical committee, they have met three times.

“The reason: it is not that we are giving them money, it is just a guarantee, so what is stopping us. There are some fundamental challenges about the way it was structured, it is difficult for it to work the way it was structured, and it may even be more than N70 billion. What we are working on now is how to immediately allow the money to be released to that sector and it is the entire sector.

“We want to look at some sectors. That is a sector that can employ more than 500,000 persons at a time and we cannot allow that sector to collapse and disappear, it is just strategic for a country that has a population of 147 million.

“That is why we are intervening. When government guarantees, even though you are not giving out the money it is as good as if you are giving out the cash, within the next one month. Five ministers are involved and we are meeting on a weekly basis. It involves, commerce, it involves agric, it involves ministry of finance and SGF office. A lot of work has gone on in the last two weeks about this.”

Meanwhile, in a desperate bid to halt the depreciation of the Naira, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has tightened rules on the foreign exchange market.

Governor of the apex bank, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, announced the new measures Monday in Abuja at a press briefing on the outcome of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.

The reduced inflow to the economy, according to the committee, had constrained supply to the market thus leaving the CBN as the main source of foreign exchange.

To save the Naira and reduce pressure on the external reserves, Professor Soludo stated that the MPC had decided to directly control the exchange rate within a band of plus or minus three per cent until further notice.

In the new foreign exchange management rule that will revolved around the CBN, Prof Soludo said henceforth, the difference between the CBN buying and selling rate would not be more than one per cent, while that of the banks and Bureaux de Change would not be more than one per cent and two per cent respectively.

To ensure that banks and Bureaux de Change operators complied with the new rules on Foreign Exchange, Prof Soludo said the apex bank monitoring team would be sent out, adding that any erring operators would be appropriately sanctioned.

Reviewing key macroeconomic developments, the CBN governor said the year- on year headlines inflation rate at end December 2008 stood at 15.1 per cent compared with 6.6 per cent at end December 2007.

Similarly, the core inflation went to 10.4 per cent in December 2008 from 3.6 per cent at end 2007. On the monetary aggregates, he said broad money grew sharply by 58.02 per cent in 2008, stressing that the growth was induced largely by the rise in credit to the private sector.

Commenting on the macroeconomic indices, Prof Soludo said the economy was currently facing paradoxes as excess liquidity was co existing with rising interest rates, which in real terms and in relation to the deposit rates seemed to be high.

Another paradox, the apex bank noted, was that the observed excess liquidity had not translated into commensurate credit creation.

In the circumstance, the MPC said it was concerned about achieving the multiple objectives of a sound financial system, price and exchange rate stability as well as ensuring that credit continued to flow to the rest of the economy.

Consequently, the committee stated that it would mop up excess liquidity in the system by actively using Open Market Operation policy while the Monetary Policy Rate, currently at 9.75 per cent remains unchanged.

On the persistently high lending rates and the wide margin between deposit and lending rates , the CBN said it would be meeting with banks’ chief executives to agree on modalities to check excesses, especially, in the light of the global economic and financial crisis.

THE SKEPTICS WILL NOT BELIEVE

THE SKEPTICS WILL NOT BELIEVE
Rev. Babatunde Ezekiel Ajibola

By the time I started to put together this write up, my heart was very heavy and because a desire was burning in my heart to make the entire world population know what the Lord Jesus said about this generation.
Do you notice how I have chosen to spell the word ‘Sceptics’ in the title of this write up, yes, I decided to spell the word in the archaic manner because what I am about to say is regarded as archaic by many and not fitting into the present day perspective of the world in general.
You might say the old time religion but I say no, it is the eternal truth which is the narrow way constructed for you and I to travel on our pilgrim journey and any other way is towards destruction.
I just received an email message from a friend who I mailed a message from my blog in which I tried to relate what is happening to the world economy as one of the signs of the end time.
In his reply, he felt I am probably becoming a dooms day prophet and he assured me things are going to be better for the world in general and that the world will continue to prosper to eternity.
He is my very good friend with whom I have done many things together with. We have both experienced the good and the bad together but while I am seeing things from the biblical point of view, he prefers to see things from the other perspectives believing we should not take the bible too serious and yet he goes to church.
I know there are many people like that out there and it makes me sad when I come across people like this because they make it appear as if to tell people about the word of God as written in the scriptures is an uphill task. Though it is not for us to take care of the inside but the Holy Spirit, may God continue to strengthen our faith to continue to tell the story of life to people so that we do not lament like Jeremiah did in Lamentation.
When we look at what is happening to the world economy, as redeemed of the Lord who pray and watch, it is obvious that we are experiencing the end time signs that must precede the great tribulation. “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”Lk.21:36
We woke up suddenly and here we are, banks are going bankrupt, houses being repossessed, thousand s are losing their jobs, businesses closing down and there is fear everywhere in the heart beat of most men and women upon the surface of the earth if these diverse misfortunes would soon knock on their doors.
The question that is being asked is, ‘how long will this last?’ Some say it is the beginning of another world economic recession that will take time to solve, some say we might not totally get out of it for a long time.
About a week ago in the United States a man who lost his job killed his wife, his five beautiful children and finally himself leaving a suicide note that there was no need to keep his children alive and to the care of others hence he decided with his wife to include the children in the list of termination.
This man like millions in the world today have the worldly material possession as the source of their joy while for us who are redeemed of the Lord have the joy of the Lord as our strength that even if we lose the entire world we are rest assured in the Lord for the return of our captivity.
“Man's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”Lk.21:26
To the redeemed of the Lord, let us the prudent in all our financial budgeting and avoid spending on things that we don’t actually need. We should avoid one of the fruits of the flesh which is emulation and envy which may lead us to wanting to do what we see others do. And in every thing as the scriptures say, we should with praises and thanksgiving make our needs known to the Lord.
“Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
And he led them forth by the right way that he might go to a city of habitation.”Ps.107:5-7
