SUMMER SOLSTICE SUNRISE
"From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised."Ps.113:3
Hundreds people in England gathered at the Stonehenge an ancient monument which is believed to be a place dedicated for the worship of the rising of the sun on the day which is regarded as the longest day of the summer. It is marked as a pagan festival that involves sacrifice unto the glory of the sun.
It is not unlikely that being a temperate region the primitive England cherished the sunshine that provide the warmness which the preceeding winter lacked.
The stonehenge which is on the Salisbry plain about 90miles south west of London, was built over three phases between 3000 B.C and 1,600 B.C.
Like every nations, people, tribes and tongues of the world, England too has her own share of paganism.
Many were preent at the site for different reasons. Some believe it is part of the culture of the land that need be preserved for art sake. Some are ther for the fun of gathering while some actually believe in the spirit of the ancient. For whatever reason it it the name of the Lord the Creator that must be praised.
